Bond Holders
|
I remember bits of the bond scheme and the club trying to bring it in , but I don't get why these are still valid. How much were the Bonds? What did you get for them? and why all these years later do they still get priory why cant the club just buy them out?

£950 I think and there was only about 717 or something sold.
You get priority tickets in front of everybody home and away.
Get to attend meeting in the club for various shit

The problem for the club is that if they wanted to buy bond holders out I reckon it would cost them considerably more than the £950 they cost. Minimum of £5000 each I reckon.

Weren't they valid for the lifetime of the buyer as well? I don't think they can be bought out. Well, an offer could be made of course, but not a compulsory purchase like when Eggert made us sell our shares for next to nothing.

I reckon that prob' the average wage then for a bloke on the terraces was probably £7k to £10k.... so to whack out nigh on a grand for a seat was why people were up in arms.... and rightly so

Was it not the case that you paid the bond for a right to buy a ST?
So the grand then the ST cost

Remember the initial blurb being shrouded in some attractive bollox, to the point my brother and I applied for the prospectus, all sounded viable
When it arrived and actually reading it - well something else
Cant remember the specifics but clearly recall some poor sops who had bought in not wanting their names on seats so as to be identified as Bond Holders
Another chapter in the history of WH cock ups

Re: Bond Holders

The idea was you bought the bond to guarantee your ST seat position. If you had a blinding seat in the front row of the upper west you wouldn't want to lose it to someone else who bought a bond. There were lots of people who were in this position, who'd had their seat/s for years, that didn't want to buy a bond but were afraid they'd lose their seats if they didn't. It was a form of extortion and that's the main reason the bond scheme was so hated.

So does it mean in our life time any away game will start off -750 tickets , as these are to bond holders . The whole thing seems a great deal , barring taking someone's seat

As I recall, they also gave you an annual discount on your ST & weren't they pitched at £500, £750 & £1,000?

Not much changed then, just send the heavy's in now and throw them out, ban them or move them to another shit part of the ground.

Still riles that while we realised the virtual extortion going on and got on the pitch to protest there were still a few weasels and snakes that actually bought the things.
I'm sure I read on here that they were getting the collective arse about the club reigning in the preferential treatment as the move to the LS approached. Someone I know at the club told me that Bondholders are typically like a group of spoilt kids.
I know I'd be embarrassed if my Dad had bought one. A proper "What did you do in the War Daddy?" moment for a West Ham supporter.

Re: Bond Holders

2 friends have Bonds and probably haven't been to an away game for over 10 years, so I'm sure out of the 700, they don't all get used as it also depends on if you know someone who'd want a ticket for every game and are happy to go alone, as none of their mates will have enough points!!
Probably mostly bought by older people too (both I know are at least 10 years older than me in their fifties), as I would have had to get a loan out back in the day to get one as a teenager.
